Emptying out the Horn.
Do you ever get tired of emptying out all 6 of your individual slides?
Well, by doing this 7 step method you should never have to pull out any of those slides again. Note: this will only work for horns that have a Bb tuning slide. e.g. Yamaha, Holton, ? (Sorry Conn owners).
1. Hold your horn in an "attention" position. The bell is facing to the right and the mouthpipe is on the left.
2. Turn the horn 90 degrees to the right so the mouthpipe is pointing right and the bell is facing down.
3. Pause here.
4. Flip the horn 180 degrees to the right so that the mouthpipe is now pointing to the left and the bell is up.
5. Pause again.
6. Push down all three of your valves and flip the horn 180 degrees back to the left like it was during step 3.
7. Empty out your Bb slide and then your F slide.

yes,i agree with raihan. had fun..though i looked toopid wearing school shoes with costume.. nvm. but anyway,im also really gonna miss those seniors that are graduating next yr manz. so many memories..uncountable. the thing that is so scary is..drifting apart after they graduate. i hope we will nv drift apart..but it can be really hard not to. *sigh* this 2 years with u all, has been truly and wonderfully great!! love you all a lot manz! aku cinta padamu(all) =D gonna miss you all like crazy manz!!! well..there's nth we can do abt it,but to treasure the time we have left together. it's precious..every moment,try to be happy and live this life to the fullest!! dun waste our life to be sad, but be happy and be united as one french horn section!! let's not compete on who's gonna be the best french horn player,but let's work together and be the best section!! together,as one!! yupx hornies? heehee.. well..i also have my shout-outs for mala,nadhira and fida too!! hehehe..

racial harmony day!
Yesterdae was the racial harmony yea? Had lots of funs? Hope u guys do! Yesterday was like the first time i took a lot of pictures man! And here's the sad thing. Do u guys know dat yesterdae was the last racial harmony the sec 3s gonna have wif the band and wif our beloved section! Oke maybe not all the sec 3s, those academics will still stay on but what about the others u noe? Mala, nadhira and fidah! They are like part of my soul. Love them lots! Yea i know what u guys may be thinking " Why the hell is raihan tell us this?" and mala would probably be rolling her eyes when she read this but we must face the fact mah! I cannot tahan anymore so must let it out! Just thinking of it make my heart break and bring tears to my eyes! And i'm beginning to miss y'all already esp the seniors man! Before anything bad happen to me I just wanna sae:

the SJI ( St Joseph Institution) concert was like cool... firstly, the school was huge! haha.. really man.. if our school was like that, i will playing hide and seek with my teachers =) their 14th concert is held at their performing arts centre (part of their school..) which is called De La Salle Perfoming Arts Centre.. and the place was green.. their school colour i think.. Another thing tat impressed me and arnina was there's ladies toilet in their school!!! hahaha.. we thought there's only staff toilet for ladies... LoLx.. no offence...
about their concert, it was wow.. they play repertoires like Overture Jubiloso, We Hold These Truths and so on.. it was fabulous.. there was main band performing, plus junior and alumin band.. the junior band is like woah.. almost the same standard as us.. and kindda terrified me.. dunnoe why either.. the alumni band rocks.. play so cool.. main band was the main attention of the audience.. aft the concert end, encore for 4 times.. (they were like planning this.. LoLx) and sang their school song with the band playing it!! (wish we all could o that) plus they have this cheer within themselves.. the SJI students were like cheering on something and sang something like a tradition in their school that they always do after a certain occasion.. and it was kindda surprised for me.. yeah...
about the brass quientet that mr lim is performing.. i advise all of you to go!! ok!! it's a must!! i will tell u all the reason why... secretly.. =)

firstly.. i'm sorry if what i said and done had hurt u... actually.. i'm a loser.. a total loser.. but hey.. guess wad?? i'm not.. why?? coz i have all of you near me... encourage me in the things i love to do and things u hate to do.. today. aft the course, i made a speech to the sec 3 exp batch. .and i touches me.. that not only my parents are here to help me.. but.. u .. my junior and my peers.... and i thank everybody.. i knoe there.. and those arent there... if you think i'm talking crap.. i'm not.. i'm saying deep down from my heart.. never i want to torture you.. or scold u.. but it seems that sometimes u all are forcing me... in the 3 day course, i realise something.. i cant change you. only you can change yourself.. i feel that why give u everything, when u yourself have the potential in you to do it.. but instead.. u let ur mind control you.. i'm not joking here.. but it seems that whatever i say.. u guys take it for granted.. u think i care??!! no i dun.. i dun even care a single thing about u.. go ahead and do all the rubbish u always do.. WHY?? coz it isnt me who's gonna fail.. and trust me.. i dun like you all.. really.. i just dont like you.. BUT i love you guys.... answer me this: why must i like you guys, when i can love all of you???
the course taught me what it takes to be me.. i did a speech at me closing ceremony.. and part of my speech.. btw i didnt prepare any speech. i said this,"so what i'm fat.. but hey.. i'm strong" and i really feel good.. my friends and some of the parents cheer me on this.. its a feeling u can never describe in ur life.. no words can explain why.. yeah.. and when i end my speech.. i tell u.. tats a feeling i never describe.. kelly, asmah, shira.. my class.. stand and clap for me.. do you know how great it feels??
Raihan ask me this, "so does this mean..u're gonan be happy 24/7?"
i answer, "no!"
my answer : " i'm gonna be HAPPY FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE "
let me tell you this.. i may be the best f horn player to u.. but remember, there's always someone better.. and if u think i'm the best, u can be better than me..
so never assume i will be the best forever..
if i can do it.. trust me.. u can do it too!

Hey yea its me once again. I guess all of u know about buying the mouthpiece thingy and the size if ur mouthpiece yea..? And also about the french horn fund. Yes, I noe dat some of u may hav difficulties in paying the fund. So please if u guys hav financial problem or have the difficulties in paying the fund or wadsoever please please please tell us. Dont keep it to urself and suffer. Lets all help each other. Or if u find abit too personal to tell the horn section at least tell me,raudhah or fidah. We will all help each other and chip. So dats all i guess. Remember ur problem is also our problem. Dun bottle it up and suffer. One for all and all for one!

MuSiCaL NiGhT
Yesterdae was our first and last performance at the musical night together! The band played hey jude, wonderful world, west side story, intermezzo and south of utopia. It was oke lahs. Had fun yea? Yea some of u guys may felt bored yesterdae but hey, dat's life! But still had fun rite?? Esp during the the afternoon show. Haha! Nadhira danced really well. We took our very first picture with Mr LiM! And yesterdae wad the last performance the sec 4s and 5s gonna have. We will miss them dearly! :( Thanks for all their hard work in putting the band together. Their jokes and advices mean a lot to the band and us. A great thanks to Yong Lin. Thanks for teaching the horns when we're first came to the band! Thanks for all ur work and time! Thanks for everything!! We're really apperciate it.
And like Mr Lim says, since that the musical night we should try to bring improve in our playing and that a section is only as good as its own weakest player. Now please please come for sesiona on a pathetic FRIDAY only. So please try to come! I understand that some of you may have tution or some lessons goin on but its the only day when all like u noe got no fitness or some remedial and all. We can use the time to revise thru the scales[both minor and major] and play thru the marches. Yes I noe, u guys are tired and every sectional means scolding but hey like we all sae, Lets all try to make sesional a fun yet a meaningful one too!
Lastly for those who really cant pay the $6.50 due to financial problem or all, please at least try to pay $1 everyday then i will help to chip in okes? Okok GrEaT! Dats all..SmILe MoRe AnD MaKe ThE WoRlD Go RoUnD AnD ROuNd AnD RoUnD!!

arlo! yupx! i agree with both Raihan. we each,on our part are in a wrong. i reckon. yupyup. we must be happy no matter wad. that means..like joy! even though its hard,it may help fidah becum happier? i duno..maybe. =) like..we must not make sectionals a bore. as in make sectionals be the happiest part of the day? heehee..that will be fantastic! gRiN (psst.and honest,i was a little jealous of the other sections who were playing. but i guess..it doesnt matter. cuz when we practice,we're bound to have something good out of it. =))
and yupx! we muz respect our seniors!! even also juniors. each of us have feelings and all. so we must take it all to consideration. <= thats my opinion. =p and really sorry sorry ar..if i hurt any of ur feelings. i may have juz spoken it in a minute of folly. solli!! =X

Hey all its me..the one and only RAIHAN!! Haha..oke oke..lets get straight to the point oke? What rafidah say actually true lahs. I mean like,i've been playing the horn for 2 years and still cant remember the 12 majors scales how pathetic is that? Its practically each on of our fault that sesional have becum more boring as each sesional day pass. We nvr remember the major scales all. But den lets make this thingy into a game. U noe liek..if those nvr remember major scales have to wad..jump ard or do something stupid. U guys like the section to be gloomy?? Dun tell me the nxt 20 years..the horn section wld be the same: gloomy as ever.
And like if lets sae rafidah come to the section in a serious face, lets all try our best to play better and cheer her up. Like, if rafidah serious den we oso serious..got such law meh? So lets try 2 cheer her up and den sectional wont be so serious and gloomy. And yea..we want to have fun..but dere's a tiem 4 everything yea? We can have fun AFTER BAND!! And yea..i agree wif jovin of not bring our mood to the section. I noe dat sometimes i oso in a bad mood but wad can u expects..gerl have mood swings..!! hahaha..so if fidah is angry..u noe wad it means..!! But sometimes..we may be wrg. But if u feel happy..den dun be a deng and chg ur happy mood to an angry mood the moment u step into sectional.
I agree wif fidah abut the respecting thingy! I apologise to those who I have hurt or being rude to. A million sories. If i ever leave a wound in ur heart..i wil try my very best to mend it back. Lastly..lets all try to make sesional from this day onwards a fun but oso a meaningful one..!!

my dearest frenchy people,
i know that the band practice on Sat for all of you were like a nightmare. i know that coz i myself are experiencing it too.. yesh.. i know.. you all want to have fun in band and esp during sectionals.. but i dun see it a point to have fun during sectionals when certain things like scales and scores have not yet been corrected.. i feel that during the sectional last Sat, i know some of you would like to have like other sections and maybe some of you even feel a little envy that we are stuck in the classroom having sectionals while the rest having fun with dont know what they are doing.. firstly, i was really pissed of by them.. and when some of you "requested" that we should relax and have fun with other section, it makes me really pissed off.. i was really aprreciated and glad that we manage to go thru "Yellow mountains" because i dont know whether its because me being in maddy mood, that al of you produce the right notes and was in tune or it is just you all that are willing to be on time and play well.. i wil just take it as the second reason.. i mean it.. 2ndly, i hate to hear from other section that one of my f horn players are being rude to the older seniors. i mean isn't it part of our daily life to respect the elders? doesnt mean that person is a year older than us, we must not respect them because he/she is part of the band.. i find that ridiculous.. Piece of Advice: No matter how young or old they are to us, RESPECT them! 3rdly, we are a family right? and we always.. ALWAYS remind each other to bring things! and i have to thank Raihan for that because i feel that she's always the one who will call each one of us to remind us what time we have to be in school and what things we are supposed to bring.. but i dun find it a point.. when we are reminding each other, are the things said go in to our right ear and come out from our left ear??? i dont think you want Raudhah to do the punishment for us?? for our tiny and stupid mistakes?? and i dont think all of you to be punish by the poeple in front every band practice?? maybe we should co-operate NOT only within ourselves but with the rest of other band members.. 4th-ly, last Sat, i dunnoe.. they say all of you were taking your own sweet time strolling down to fall in.. yeah i know we are the last section to pack up.. but please.. i'm begging you to rush things up the next time onwards!
Lastly, i know i'm being long wided but hey.. didnt you guys name me "BIG MAMA"??? i feel fortunate to be in this section despite that when first in here, i hate it.. but poeple change with time.. i love this instrument plus my members in this section! i really love all of you.. we had so much fun. .joys.. laughthers.. tears.. (err.. for certain stuff) together.. hopefully..in future with the new frenchy babies, we will stick like glue no matter what!
